Spencer Lodge Resigns from deVere

Spencer Lodge leaves deVere to seek medical attention for a debilitating condition called Spondylothesis. It has been widely reported online and in the press that Spencer Lodge has been suffering with Psiatica, a set of symptoms caused by general compression or irritation of one of five spinal nerve roots that give rise to each sciatic nerve.

Spencer Lodge leavesdeVere following many treatments with the chiropractor to try and resolve this extremely painful and debilitating condition. After three years of treatment with minimal improvement, it was agreed he leaves deVere to seek the advice of a neurosurgeon.

Having subsequently met with 10 neurosurgeons in London, all of whom had had different opinions, the medical conclusion was that he had Spondolythesis with a pars defect. This meant he had a prolapsed disc with a fractured vertebra.

The only way to fix this problem would be to have an operation to fuse the spine together and insert a cage in between the two vertebrae in order to replace the prolapsed disc. The 9 hour operation took place in June 2011, followed by a three week enforced stay in hospital recovering.

He spent the following 6 months getting better, but received a blow when my Consultant told me the fusion had not worked and that the operation needed to be done again. The second operation took place in March 2012.

He slowly recovered however the pain did not subside and he continues to receive ongoing specialist physiotherapy.
